  • Introducing Chatometer: A Messaging Stats App

    I’m excited to share Unthreaded Chatometer – a new app now available on TestFlight.

    About

    Chatometer securely analyses your messages to show fun statistics, including:

    • Message, word, and character count
    • Activity over time
    • Most active hours and days
    • Top words and emoji
    • Longest words sent

    How it Works

    1. Import an archive of your messages (currently supports WhatsApp).
    2. On-device algorithms scan your messages. No data is collected or sent off-device for processing.
    3. Discover your stats and share with friends!

    Unthreaded is now available on TestFlight. You can test it on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. The aim is to release to the App Store soon. It is still in beta – things may break!

  • Ailsa 1.4 Preview

    Ailsa 1.4 is coming soon! This free update will contain a complete redesign of the Statistics area of the app. Read below for a sneak peak.

    Additional Data Types

    View statistics for several new data types:

    • Weekday
    • Final own and opposition score
    • Own and opposition scores per end
    • Points up

    Summary Values

    View new summary values for quantitative data types:

    • Mean
    • Median
    • Q1, Q3
    • Range
    • Minimum and maximum

    Compare Across Groups

    For each data type, users can now view charts to compare values across different variables. For example:

    • The number of games won, for each day of the week.
    • The average opposition score, for each competition.
    • The average ’steal efficiency’ for each team position you play.

    Improved Design

    Existing and new features are easier to use on all devices.

    • On the summary screen, each statistic type highlights a value of interest on the chart.
    • Charts are larger, with clearer labels, descriptions, and controls.

    Ailsa 1.4 will be available on the App Store at the end of January.

  • Consolidate 3.0

    Consolidate 3.0 is a major update for macOS, iOS, and watchOS. It brings a new way to track study progress, new features such as Live Study and Shortcuts support, and a brand new design!

    New Features

    Updated Progress Tracking

    Lessons are self-evaluated using a numerical scale of 0 to 4, instead of using a colour/traffic-light system.

    • View progress more easily, without needing to differentiate colours.
    • View average progress in monochrome widgets (e.g., StandBy, Lock Screen, Complications).
    • Previously created study sessions will be automatically mapped to the new system.

    Live Study

    Use Consolidate as a study assistant whilst you revise a lesson.

    • View study duration and a single learning outcome in a new full screen view to minimise distractions.
    • Set a goal to motivate you to stay focussed.
    • Live Activities display the current duration and goal on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, and let you quickly pause/resume the session.
    • The Live Study widget displays the current duration, goal and learning outcome on the Home Screen, Lock Screen, Smart Stack, and in StandBy. Interactive buttons let you quickly pause/resume the session and change the current learning outcome.

    Shortcuts

    Use the Shortcuts app to automate parts of your study journey.

    • Create custom workflows using actions for finding, adding, and editing lessons, courses, and study sessions.
    • Integrate Consolidate with other apps on your device.
    • Discover quick Shortcuts for opening favourite categories, and altering the current live study from the Shortcuts app or Spotlight.
    • Get helpful predictions to perform regularly used actions.

    New Watch App

    The Apple Watch app has been redesigned, making specific use of watchOS 10 features.

    • Create live study sessions from your wrist, helping you to study whilst on the go.
    • New colourful backgrounds add vibrancy and visual associations to the current view.
    • Navigate between sections of the app more easily using the Digital Crown.
    • New complications and widgets let you view progress and Live Study sessions from the clock face and Smart Stack.

    Other Changes

    • The course selector has been redesigned to help users view and edit courses more easily.
    • Lesson types have been deprecated in favour of categories, which offer more features and make the app easier for new users. Learn how to upgrade in the app.
    • A new, simpler lesson list design focusses on titles and fits more details on the screen.
    • A new header gradient shows the selected category colour.
    • New widget designs incorporate the Consolidate logo and gradients, bringing a more cohesive visual design.
    • The Progress widget shows total study time and average progress for a selected category.
    • The Progress widget is now available on the Lock Screen and in StandBy.
    • View iCloud sync status within Settings.

    Version 1.1 of Classes is now available for iOS/iPadOS! Thanks to everyone who has downloaded it and given suggestions.

    What’s New?

    • Today’s lessons have a red countdown timer to easily find in the list
    • Added a more prominent button to indicate and change whether a lesson has been watched
    • Clearer text in the Learning Outcomes screen when no outcomes have been created
    • Removed empty lists when no outcomes or resources have been created for a lesson- Changed the colour of the checkmark to match the app’s colour
    • Added ability to swipe on a tag in the “Browse” section to delete it

    Bug Fixes

    • Fixed a bug where lessons in the list stayed selected after pressing the back button
    • Fixed a bug where the cancel button sometimes did not work when adding a new tag
